Recovery & resilience
Recovery needs somewhere to go on a Tuesday afternoon
Steady, non-judgemental support through addiction, recovery, crisis and major life changes, alongside support to build resilience when life is going well.

Our approach
No lectures, no league table of who's doing recovery properly
We work alongside people in recovery from alcohol, drugs, gambling and other compulsions, whether that's day three or year ten. We also work with people navigating crisis, bereavement, relationship breakdown or other big life changes, and with the partners, parents and adult children carrying it alongside them.
You don't have to be abstinent to contact us. We won't demand a clean date before we'll talk to you, and a lapse doesn't get you thrown out.
We're not a treatment service and not a substitute for detox, prescribing or structured treatment. We work well alongside those, often as the thing that fills the enormous gap after they end.
What helps
Purpose, routine and being genuinely needed
- One-to-one mentoring with someone who doesn't flinch and doesn't moralise.
- Regular practical work on the land and with animals, a reason to be somewhere at a set time.
- Men's Shed and volunteering as a bridge back into ordinary community life.
- Support for family members who are worn out and rarely offered anything.
- Help re-engaging with treatment, mutual aid or health services when you're ready.
- Long-term relationships: we're still here in year two, when most support has ended.
Safety first: never stop drinking suddenly without medical advice, alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. Speak to your GP or local drug and alcohol service, call 111, or 999 in an emergency.
